17-alpha Hydroxyprogestone, or 17-OH progesterone (17-OHP) is a progestogen steroid sex hormone derived from progesterone, a chemical intermediate in the biosynthesis of androgens, estrogens, glucocorticoids, and neurosteroids. In the clinical setting measuring levels of 17A OHP is used to test for congenital adrenal hyperplasia, particularly in newborn screening.
